Out of all the websites in the world…here you are!
Thanks for checking out my digital presence! I’m Corey Johnson, a New Englander turned New Yorker turned Californian, navigating the colorful and ever-changing landscapes of the arts. Born in the scenic heart of Connecticut, I turned my early dreams into a fun-filled career across multiple creative stages—I act, I direct, I write, and I teach, all with a sprinkle of humor and a whole lot of heart.
I thrive in the dynamic, unpredictable worlds of TV, film, regional theatre, and comedy, weaving my experiences and unique flair into every project and classroom. But more than anything, I’m just a guy who loves to tell stories that resonate, educate, and, most importantly, entertain. Stick around, and let's explore the magic of creativity together!
Acting and Writing: My screen roles include the Crying Waiter in Greener Grass (Sundance 2019), the hapless optimist, Dave in Buddy and Bernice (Sundance 2022), and the fife-playing Town Crier in All Is Well. On stage, I have performed with the Arizona Theatre Company, Malibu Playhouse, and Sacred Fools, contributing to a variety of innovative theatrical productions.
As a writer, I have created diverse narratives ranging from 39 Years of Dylan and Rory for DropOut, a story about a gay couple's relationship told through text messages, to writing sketches for the Upright Citizens Brigade in both New York and Los Angeles. My work with the sketch group Onassis, a Mainstage House Team at UCB, included winning the Friar’s Club Sketch Competition and producing a TV pilot. Additionally, I have contributed to The Onion News Network and wrote for the ABC and CBS Diversity Showcases.
Directing: On stage, I've spent the last year developing and directing Triumphantly Delusional, a 60-minute theatrical experience written by Emily Walker, that weaves surreal humor with a tapestry of nostalgic pop culture. This show, a Kentucky fever dream featuring teenage beauty queens and early 2000s pop hits, has thrilled audiences in Los Angeles and is working towards captivating audiences on the festival circuit.
Teaching: My teaching philosophy is built on the foundation of my professional experience, brought to life in classrooms across the nation—from prestigious film academies to leading universities. I believe in nurturing creativity through a balanced mix of improvisation and structured learning, fostering an environment where emerging artists can thrive.
Current Engagements: Keep an eye out for me in the latest national Wayfair commercial, where I bring a slice of humor to homes everywhere.
My journey is a testament to the power of storytelling, whether it’s on stage, behind the camera, or in the classroom. I invite you to join me as we explore the boundless possibilities of the arts. Let’s create something unforgettable together!
